Finally the Moto G 4G can now be upgraded with Android 5.0 Lollipop update using a custom firmware.

Motorola's smartphone, with codename Peregrine, runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat when it was released on May 2014. The latest official upgrade made available for the device is 4.4.4 Android KitKat OS according to GSM Arena.

While there has yet an official Android 5.0 Lollipop udate for Moto G 4G, there is a custom firmware called SlimRoms, for the owners of the who can't wait to experience Google's latest OS.

The SlimRoms is "based on AOSP (Android Open Source Project) 5.0 Lollipop," according to IBTimes . Moto G 4G owners who opt to install the custom firmware will reportedly experience "numerous customization options, short-cuts for easy access, performance tweaks and lots of improvements to enhance the user-experience."

It should be noted that since the SlimRoms firmware is unofficial, the Moto G 4G owners who wish to install Android 5.0 Lollipop update must be extra careful in flashing the custom ROM.
