Red Robin Rolling out Kobe Beef Burgers: Report

Jan 25, 2013 05:09 PM EST | By Staff Reporter

Red Robin has begun developing Kobe beef and bison beef hamburgers that will hit menus across America in the second half of the year.

Company officials told an audience at an investment conference this week that the restaurant is trying to gauge customers' tastes and how much they're willing to spend for pricey burgers, according to Restaurant News.

The new burgers will be priced around $14.99. The hamburgers will also be served on red plates instead of the traditional baskets in an effort to make the entire experience "simplified, clarified, and amplified," according to Stephen Carley, an executive at Red Robin International Inc.

Last year, the chain introduced its Tavern Double Burger, which proved a hit with consumers at $6.99.

Red Robin is also looking to introduce a range of desserts and appetizers, and it has remodeled 21 Denver restaurants to test consumer reactions to new designs. The company is also looking to increase its bar business without alienating family diners.
