Starbucks is celebrating the 10th anniversary of its pumpkin spice latte.

According to restaurantnews.com, the coffee chain is honoring the existence of the beverage for the fall. Starbucks president for the chain's EMEA group or Americas, Europe, Middle East, and Africa Cliff Burrows said fans always look forward to the beverage.

"There's always so much excitement and anticipation for the return of Starbucks® Pumpkin Spice Latte each year, and it has become our most popular seasonal beverage of all time," he told Restaurant News. "We hear from our customers year-round that drinking their first Pumpkin Spice Latte is when they know fall has arrived."

The beverage is also the company's most popular seasonal beverage as over 200 million have been sold since its inception in 2003.

Customers will receive 50 percent off the regular price of a pumpkin spice latte tumbler with the purchase of any pumpkin spice latte beverage until Monday. The offer is available at participating stores in the United States and Canada while supplies last.

The drink is the company's signature espresso beverage, and has steamed milk, rich and creamy pumpkin flavored sauce, and warm seasonal spices like cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and clove. It also comes with whipped cream and the company's special pumpkin spice topping. Customers can also customize the beverage to meet their needs.

Peter Dukes, director of espresso brand management at Starbucks and one of the creators of the pumpkin spice latte told Restaurant News the chances the company took with the drink are now paying off.

"It's been great to see the trajectory over the past decade, because when we launched PSL ten years ago-yes it has a nickname now-we took a bit of a risk on a new innovation," Dukes said. "You just didn't see pumpkin-flavored food and beverages ten years ago the way you do today."
