"Marvel's Jessica Jones" actress Krysten Ritter talks getting into character as critics praise the Netflix series' realistic take on sexuality.

Jessica Jones isn't your average Marvel superhero.

"She lives in a dark place, she has a very hot temper, she has PTS," Ritter told reporters at New York Comic Con including The Wall Street Journal.

But what does it take to play the character? The "Breaking Bad" star said "[i]t was just about finding that headspace, and by nature of shooting nights and not sleeping, you kind of get there and you stay there."

Apparently, the Jones' darkness took its toll on Ritter that even when the cameras aren't rolling anymore and she encounters something scary, "[her] instinct was to beat them up."

Still, the 33-year-old actress enjoyed her work on "Marvel's Jessica Jones."

"I get to do everything that I've always wished to do, but have never found all in one part," she said adding, "I feel like someone gave me one of those awesome tickets to Willy Wonka. This was the most immersed I've ever been in a world or a character."

The Netflix series won't premiere until Nov. 20 but NYCC attendees already got the chance to see the entire first episode. The surprise screening provided a glimpse on what "Jessica Jones" has to offer and critics are raving on its take on sexuality, which for IB Times was "honest."

Without getting into spoilers, the episode also featured a sex scene between two characters and its depiction was also realistic.

"It's the way real-life grown-ups have sex, not the way neutered TV superheroes do," Vulture's Abraham Riesman said.

He also pointed out that the series could also introduce Marvel's first lesbian character in Carrie Ann Moss' Jeryn Hogarth. Reportedly, the episode also touched on a sexual subplot "which has to do with mind control and the consequences of rape."

How "Marvel's Jessica Jones" builds on those themes remains to be seen. All 13 episodes of the upcoming Netflix series debuts Nov. 20.
