"Samurai Jack" is back! A very short 5-second teaser posted on YouTube by Adult Swim announced that Genndy Tartakovsky is bringing back the animated series this 2016.

Series creator Genndy Tartakovsky, who was also responsible for "Dexter's Laboratory," the animated "Star Wars: Clone Wars miniseries, "Sym-Bionic Titan" and the "Hotel Transylvania" franchise, will be producing an all-new "Samurai Jack" on 2016 which will be part of the Toonami line-up. According to Geek.com, Genndy was also working with Sony for a "Popeye" movie, but there brewed creative differences between him and the studio. He is also working on a new project called "Can You Imagine?" although details are still kept under the wraps.

Genndy Tartakovsky has earlier hinted about the comeback of "Samurai Jack." In an interview with Cartoon Brew on September this year, where he was promoting the "Hotel Transylvania" sequel, Genndy said that "the time is very ripe" for "Samurai Jack" to return. He said that he wants to be in a situation where people want to make his "stuff," whether it be in television or in the big screen.

"I'm not sure yet, but I'm feeling really confident. In the last five years, I've traveled quite a bit domestically and internationally, and wherever I go, 'Samurai Jack' is number one," Genndy told Cartoon Brew. "People are so appreciative of and inspired by it, which is really nice. I feel like it is more popular now than it was when it actually aired. So I think its time is very ripe, and I'm hoping something will happen soon."

"Samurai Jack" ran 52 episodes from 2001 to 2004 on Cartoon Network and became a cult favorite. The series followed the samurai named Jack, who was transported to a dystopian future by the shape-shifting demon called Aku, who destroyed Jack's father's kingdom. Throughout its run until 2004, the animated series has earned two Emmy awards. And finally, in 2016, its most awaited comeback is happening!
