DC's "Justice League Dark," although release date is yet to be announced, will be set to begin production next year; and while the cast is yet to be identified, Warner Bros. already announced that taking the helm for the supernatural superhero movie is director Brendon Breese.

Movie Pilot, in its report on Thursday, confirmed that the "Moneyball," "Ant-Man," and "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" director is officially on board for "Justice League Dark," debunking early speculations that on the director shortlist for the film are "Evil Dead" director Fede Alvarez and "Big Bad Wolves" directing duo Aharon Keshales and Navot Papushado.

Guillermo del Toro was originally named director for the movie but he turned his back on it after becoming exhausted with the studio over casting and scheduling. However, he had already finished the screenplay and handed it to DC.

In a separate report, Movie Pilot has also discussed rumors about "Sons of Anarchy" star Ron Perlman to join the "Justice League Dark" cast as Swamp Thing. Perlman has been known for his portrayals of the titular character "Hellboy" and the half-man, half-beast Vincent in "Beauty and the Beast." He recently appeared as Clarence "Clay" Morrow in the critically acclaimed and massive TV series, "Sons of Anarchy."

It was previously reported that other names eyed for casting on "Justice League Dark" are Colin Farrell as the dark magician John Constantine, Ewan McGregor as Jason Blood or The Demon, and Monica Bellucci as the mystic fortune teller Madame Xanadu. DC is also looking for a Latina actress or a black actress to fill in the role of Zatana, which includes "Jane the Virgin" star Gina Rodriguez.

Meanwhile, "The Dark Knight Rises" star Ben Mendelsohn is also eyed to portray the villain, Anton Arcane. Mendelsohn, however, would decide on taking the role or not based on who would be helming the film. And now that Brendon Breese is already named as the "Justice League Dark" director, fans may expect a word from Mendelsohn very soon.
