Fareway's Growth Continues with Upcoming Store in Coal Valley

Fareway Stores, Inc. announced on Friday that it will build a new store covering 17,000 square feet at the southeast corner of 1st Street and Route 6 in Coal Valley. The store is expected to open in 2026.

New Fareway Store Coming to Coal Valley

Fareway CEO Reynolds W. Cramer recently announced the company's plans to open a new store in Coal Valley. The company aims to provide high-quality products and exceptional service to the community.

"Communities rely on their local grocery store for top-notch products and service. We are excited to bring these benefits to the residents of Coal Valley and surrounding areas with our new store," Cramer stated. He also expressed gratitude towards city officials and economic development teams for their support in bringing this project to life.

According to the company, the upcoming Fareway store will feature a full-service butcher counter, the freshest meat and produce, competitive prices, and excellent customer service, which includes assistance like carrying groceries to customers' cars.

Additionally, the store will incorporate modern shopping conveniences such as self-service FastLanes, online shopping, and curbside pickup.

Coal Valley Welcomes New Fareway Grocery Store

According to QuadCities news, Mayor Mike Bartels announced on Friday that Fareway Stores will open a new location in the Village of Coal Valley, a development he describes as a major step forward for the community.

"We're excited to welcome Fareway to our village after six years of joint efforts. Fareway is the perfect partner to bring back a local grocery store to our residents," Bartels said during the announcement.

Bartels highlighted the broader impact of the new store, noting, "Fareway's arrival not only meets our community's need for a grocery store but also promises to boost the local economy by creating jobs, supporting nearby businesses, and encouraging additional development."

Village Administrator Penny Mullen also commented on the significance of the new store, stating, "Introducing Fareway to our community is a tremendous asset for our residents."

The new store will be located at 1301 Eagle Ridge Road in LeClaire. Fareway, a rapidly expanding grocery chain, operates over 130 locations across Iowa, Illinois, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, and South Dakota.

The chain also has several stores in the Quad Cities area, including Moline, Bettendorf, Davenport, Geneseo, Clinton, and Muscatine.
