'The Flash' Season 2 Spoiler: Wally West Introduction Leaves Another Character Devastated

Dec 08, 2015 10:17 PM EST | By Rolly Gacelo

Wally West has arrived to television as said in earlier "The Flash" season 2 spoiler. This happened in show's mid-season finale which aired this week and he is portrayed by Keiynan Lonsdale.

While his addition is very welcome, especially because of how big the character is in the comics, his arrival in the show won't be smooth sailing. Hearts will be broken.

Jesse L. Martin says his character Joe West will be pained by the secret that he has a son.

"It's pretty devastating for Joe, because this is an 18-year-old secret that his wife just kept from him, and the fact this boy grew up without a father really rubs Joe the wrong way," Martin tells Entertainment Weekly when asked to share Wally West-related "The Flash" season 2 spoiler. "It's something that he feels immediately guilty about."

In "The Flash" lore, Joe has no idea he has a son because his wife Francine (Vanessa A. Williams), kept it from him after he kicked her out because of drug addiction. He also made his daughter (Candice Patton) Iris believe that Francine is dead. Little did he know that his wife left them pregnant of their second child. Interestingly, it was Iris whp discovered about Wally but she decided against telling her father right away.

Although he is hurt, Martin says Joe will forgive Iris and Francince. What he is scared to deal with is how he will be able to start a relationship with Wally.

"He almost immediately forgives Iris for lying about that." he says. "The reveal is way more important. His mind goes directly to that: Will I be able to have a relationship with this kid, and if so what kind of relationship am I going to have if I haven't been in his life since he grew up?"

West family is getting a lot of focus in the current season. In another "The Flash" season 2 spoiler, Patton said if in the first season it is the Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) and his family that were at the center of the drama, the sophomore run will focus on the Wests.

"Season 1 was a lot about the Allen family and Barry's loss of his mother and his father being wrongly accused," Patton told Buddy TV.

"This season a lot of the heart of the show is going to revolve around the West family. So we'll delve, kind of, pretty deep, into Iris and her background and just all of her family history."
