With the confirmation of TNT's renewal of hit series, "The Last Ship" season 2 spoilers have been going around that there will be additional episodes as pandemic survivors face new set of problems and adventures for the second season.

The network decided to renew the show because, as reports have said, it was on top of the viewership ladder in its first season. In a statement, TNT said that "'The Last Ship' is a blockbuster hit in its first season, not only among total viewers but also among key adult demos."

"'The Last Ship' packed an average of more than 7.2 million viewers live, and currentlu ranks as basic cable's #1 scripted series this summer with adults 18-49 and adults 25-54," confirmed TNT.

The hit series is produced by blockbuster director Michael Bay, and is based on a novel with the same title, written by William Brinkley.

"The Last Ship" tells of a story about a world pandemic that almost destroys 80 percent of the world's population, except for the crew of U.S.S Nathan James, a U.S. Navy guided missile destroyer, led by Captain Chandler.

Some of the cast and producers of the hit show revealed some "The Last Ship" season 2 spoilers during the San Diego Comic Con. According to the showrunners, Russians will indeed be back to give some show-stopping twists and turns. Executive producer Hank Steinberg said, "Season 1 ends with a complete cliffhanger turn that upends the whole series. It drives the series to a whole new direction."

Meanwhile, co-executive producer Steven Kane also revealed another "The Last Ship" season 2 spoilers, saying that the second season will showcase "a whole new palate and a while new set of problems and adventures."

Captain Chandler and the rest of his crew will be back on land as "The Last Ship" season 2 returns to TNT in 2015.
