Boxing news 2014 updates revealed that Juan Manuel Marquez is considering retirement, while his trainer, Nacho Beristain, is not interested in a proposed showdown with Kell Brook in United Kingdom.

Marquez, who is coming off a win against Mike Alvarado in their May 17 bout, said in an interview that he is still undecided on whether or not he will fight again.

"Right now I need to take my time because it is a hard decision," Marquez said in the boxing news 2014. "Maybe I'll retire, maybe I'll continue, but I need time, because it is a hard decision."

When asked about when he will decide about his future, the 41-year-old declined to give a timetable, saying that it will be a hard decision for him because he wants to make sure that he will pick the best possible option.

"I don't know, I tell you, it is a hard decision, maybe two months, I don't know," Marquez said. "I need to feel great about it. If I continue, I will choose the best option, because there are options for me. But if I retire it will be because it was the best option."

Recent boxing news 2014 indicated that Marquez could face Kell Brook or Amir Khan in his next fight, but Nacho Beristain is not interested in the proposed fight against either fighter in UK.

The Hall of Fame trainer said that they will only agree to the fight if it will be staged in a neutral venue to avoid a controversial decision.

When Marquez was asked to give his thoughts on Brook and Khan, the Mexican boxing icon said: "Kell Brook is a great champion and Amir Khan is a great champion. They're both good fighters. Brook was great beating Shawn Porter but right now he has an injury, and he needs to take the time to recover."

Miguel Cotto, the reigning World Boxing Council middleweight champion, is also being linked to Marquez, but Beristain said that they will only face the Puerto Rican champion at a reasonable catchweight.

"It would be a great fight," Beristain said of the rumored Marquez-Cotto fight. "We would have to reach a good agreement. To fight at 150-pounds does not seem bad, or even a little less."
