Update on “The Musketeers” Season 2 Release Date, Spoilers: Filming Of Second Season Begins, Later Time Slot Leads To Speculations On Series Format Changes

After the first season premiere in January, "The Musketeers" season 2 is set to return to your home viewing screens in 2015. Filming for the next season has commenced, leaving fans wanting more spoilers for the upcoming adventure.

BBC's plotline involves basically the original story of the Musketeers with D'Artagnan, Athos, Aramis, and Porthos battling in the name of justice and brotherhood against Cardinal Richelieu. Cast members include Luke Pasqualino, Tom Burke, Santiago Cabrera, Howard Charles and Peter Capaldi, respectively.

Initially, the series received mixed reviews from critics but have progressed to positive evaluation as episodes unfolded. According to DailyMail.com's Jim Shelley, "The Musketeer's didn't take itself too seriously but was still so bad it bordered on self-parody. The quality of the sub-plots hardly merited its 9pm slot in the schedule rather than (like Merlin or Robin Hood) much earlier, consisting of such clichéd set pieces as a fight following an accusation of cheating during a card game and a randy musketeer being caught in the act and having to dangle out of his lover's bedroom window while his mates watched on chuckling."

In the coming reviews however, critics somewhat became more accustomed to the series, not all praising the episodes but relatively demonstrated that there was something new about the series. Den of Greet's Rob Kemp is also quoted in saying "time was definitely right to start to explore the characters."

"The Musketeers" season 2 release date has been set for 2015, although without a definite date. The series has also been moved to a 9PM slot, which audiences interpret as a gateway to show more action-packed and possibly a lot more stimulating episodes in the second season.

Creator Adrian Hodges shares with BBC One on "The Musketeers" season 2 9PM slot, "We wouldn't have done the first series in that way, had we been doing the whole thing as a 9pm show."
