NY-Based Mexican Food Joint Calexico Expands to the Middle East

Mexican Food Joint Calexico acquired a franchise deal to set up shop in United Arab Emirates and Bahrain.

Calexico, Mexican Restaurant based in New York got a major franchise deal to expand the brand in the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain.

The brand has been putting efforts to grow by adding company-owned and franchised stores in the United States.

Calexico takes a big leap and will now go head-to-head with high profile fast-casual restaurants in the Middle East.

As of the moment, Calexico has 3 brick-and-mortar restaurants located in Brooklyn, 3 New York City street carts, a vendor unit at the Barclays Center and a new franchise at the Lower East Side of Manhattan and multi-unit stores planned to be put up in Manhattan, Philadelphia, Queens/Long Island and Chicago.

The Mexican-themed restaurant partners with Fansmart Senior Director of Development Ryan Durishin who signed an agreement to be the Area Developer for United Arab Emirates and Bahrain.

Fransmart is the development company that is responsible for the success of brands such as Five Guys Burgers and Fries and Qdoba Mexican Grill.

The new Calexico partners expect to put 15 stores in United Arab Emirates and Bahrain.

Calexico was founded by three brothers who lived in the border town of Calexico, California.

It started as a street cart in New York City back in 2006, but became famous after winning the Vendy Award in 2008. The brand got several recognitions after winning the Vendy Award.

The brand was also features in The Martha Stewart Show's I Love NY TV show, and was dubbed as "Zagat's Top Mexican Restaurant in New York City."

 Today the brand continues to grow and put up stores to cater to its growing market, and will continue to expand in the United States and International locations.

Currently, Calexico is emerging as one of the best Mexican food restaurants in the United States serving fresh, flavorful food that incorporates Mexican tastes and American barbecue.
