MH370 Update: Search Continues To Find The Missing Malaysian Airplane, This Time Using Three-Dimensional Maps

Oct 02, 2014 08:30 AM EDT | By Staff Reporter

There's hardly any welcome MH370 flight update being released by the authorities working on the missing Malaysian airplane. The authorities though make sure that works are not being halted. Next week, search vessels will sail again on the Southern Indian ocean floor to search for the plane that vanished last March. This time, however, they will be carrying new three-dimensional maps. These innovative maps reveal mountain rangers that could go a mile high and can trench up to 1.4 km deep.

Through available information, the Australian Transport Safety Bureau, the leader of the search party, "confirms that MH370 will be found in close proximity to the arc." It also said that it “is unlikely to be more than 20 NM to the west or 30 NM to the east of the arc."

"While it is impossible to determine with certainty where the aircraft may have entered the water, all the available data and analysis indicates a highly probable search area close to a long but narrow arc of the southern Indian Ocean," the agency stated.

The MH370 went missing last March 8 carrying 227 passengers and 12 crews. Around 227 of the total passengers were from 15 different nations while the 12 listed crews are all from Malaysia. It was last seen above the Andaman Sea, 320 kilometers northwest of Penang state in Malaysia. A multinational effort has been launched in the Gulf of Thailand and the South China Sea since its disappearance. Although there were conscious effort, there's no welcome MH370 update yet. There's no breakthrough, there's no clues. The only thing experts found are science discoveries while doing a search off the coast of Australia.

Searchers found underwater mountain ranges that could be higher than the Grand Canyon.

“The recently acquired high-resolution bathymetry data has revealed many of these seabed features for the first time,” the Australian Transport Safety Bureau said after coming up empty with MH370 update.
