Reports about "Man of Steel" star Henry Cavill appearing in the upcoming "50 Shades of Grey" sequel have been making rounds for a while.

Needless to say, fans have been very excited about it, especially when the 32-year-old British hunk, who plays the role of Superman in "Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice," seemingly tried to tease fans about it.

"Basically what I can say is I can't say anything about it right now," Cavill told E! News on camera days before he finally put the rumors of his involvement in "50 Shades of Grey" to rest.

While his statement immediately made fans fell off of their seats, the "Man of Steel" star decided to end his "joke" admitting that he is just messing with everyone.

"I'm not in 'Fifty Shades of Grey.' I'm for real. I'm just messing with everyone," he said in a statement to USA Today.

Fans of the hit BDSM movie did not seem to like Cavill's game that they are reportedly enraged with the actor for giving them false hopes, Realty Today reported.

"'Fifty Shades Darker'" fans are reportedly enraged after they learned that 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' actor Henry Cavill recently 'lied' about playing Jack Hyde in the sequel," the publication said.

Henry Cavill however, explained that he just got tired of being continuously linked to the movie despite his previous denial, thus he decided to play along and just give everyone what they wanted to hear.

"The first time around, everyone was asking, 'Are you Christian Grey?' I went 'No!' But no one cared and everyone kept talking about it. This time around, everyone is now still convinced I'm part of the series. Now the question is, 'Are you going to be in 'Fifty Shades Darker. ' And I thought, I'm going to try a different tact this time. See what they say. And so I tried a different tact."

Adding, "I thought I'd give everyone a go and then tell everyone the truth a moment later. It's not going to change."

Futhermore, the "Man of Steel" star admitted that he enjoyed fans' reaction saying that he'll not hesitate to do something like that again.

"I'm going to do something like this again in the future and make a real social experience out of it."
