The annual BET Hip Hop Awards 2014 turned up pretty awesome according to critics (and ratings), with diverse Hip Hop artists performances and well-deserved awards handed out to artists both old and new.

Hosting for the second consecutive year, is multi-awarded singer-songwriter and rapper Snoop Dogg. His comeback has been well received, with fans and critics commending his riotous hosting abilities. In a report by The Root, his hosting dubs him as "national treasure" saying, "Who doesn't love Uncle Snoop? He's smooth, effortless and hilarious. An impeccable hosting choice for BET, and hopefully the start of a trend. I fully expect (and insist) that before it's all over with, we'll see him on the screen hosting the Oscars."

The BET Hip Hop Awards 2014 night was filled with high-energy performances, with collaborations from Yo Gotti, Rocko and Rich Homie Quan in "Act Right"/"UOENO"/"Type of Way", 2 Chainz, Mannie Fresh and Juvenile for "Honest"/"I Wanna Be wit You"/"No Games" as well as Schoolboy Q, Kendrick Lamar and Jay Rock for "Collard Greens"/"Money Trees."

Among the memorable performances was the "I Wanna be Down" (Remix) performed by Brandy, MC Lyte, Yo-Yo and Queen Latifah. All ladies of the 90s, their reunion began early this year on "The Queen Latifah Show" as they discussed the remix and its creation.

The artists took to twitter on the BET Hip Hop Awards 2014 performance, with Brandy sharing "Dear God, thank you for this moment!". Yo-yo also tweets: "20 years of sisterhood and music. Love you ladies @mclyte @4everbrandy @queenlatifah and the greatest producer @keithcrouch wish you could have been here. We lite the stage up!"

Drake won big in the BET Hip Hop Awards 2014 winning Album of the Year, Best Hip Hop Video, Best Live Performer and People's Champ Award. Other winners of the BET Hip Hop Awards 2014 include Nicki Minaj, Iggy Azalea, Kendrick Lamar, and Wiz Khalifa.
