Shailene Woodley: ‘Fault In Our Stars’ Actress Thinks She’s A “Pro” At Losing Her Virginity Onscreen? Find Out Why Here

According to Shailene Woodley, she is a "pro" at losing her virginity onscreen.

The 'Fault In Our Stars' actress opened up about her intimate scenes for her new movie 'White Bird In A Blizzard' during the movie's premiere at New York City's Landmark Sunshine Cinemas last Wednesday.

The 22-year-old actress told Hollywood Reporter that she's so "keen" in doing intimate scenes that "feel real" because she personally doesn't think that losing one's virginity is not "a fun experience."

She explained, "It's not glamorous - for some people, I think it is, but it wasn't for a lot of people on this planet - so for me, it was a matter of, if we're gonna do a scene that deals with that, it's not gonna be, 'Her back arches and she gasps in excitement.' No, no, it's gonna be messy and it's gonna be real."

Her most notable first-time sex scenes happened with co-stars Miles Teller in 'The Spectacular Now' and Ansel Elgort in 'The Fault In Our Stars.'

However, despite shooting intimate scenes for a few times already, having to do it with co-star Shiloh Fernandez in 'White Bird In A Blizzard' was still a bit awkward for the young actress.

She reportedly told Page Six, "It's always an awkward situation when you have to pretend to be intimate with someone that you're not actually intimate with ... I think the awkwardness probably lends itself to these great virginity scenes."

About losing one's virginity in real life, the 'Fault In Our Stars' actress think people "feel pressured into it" because of society.

Shailene Woodley shared with Hollywood Reporter, "So when they actually get the deed done, they don't feel any sort of satisfaction because it wasn't for themselves. It was for others in a way."

Shiloh Fernandez also added that nowadays virginity doesn't represent "some pure thing" anymore.

He added, "This isn't necessarily the most clean or natural thing that we want it to be or we dream it to be. It doesn't mean that it tarnishes you or makes you dirty, whatever that is. It's about love and connection and growing as a human being."

Shailene Woodley plays a teenager in search of her mother and herself in 'White Bird In A Blizzard.' Also starring Shiloh Fernandez and Eva Green, the film will be shown in limited theaters on October 24. It's also available in iTunes and VOD.
