7th Heaven Star Stephen Collins Confesses To Child Molestation; Audio Confession Caught On Tape!

Oct 24, 2014 10:05 PM EDT | By Ana Pascual

The New York Police Department and Manhattan Special Victims Squad are investigating child molestation charges against ‘7th Heaven’ star Stephen Collins. TMZ reports that his estranged wife has videotaped his confession during a therapy session together.

Last 2012, Collins allegedly spilled the beans during a session, telling his wife, Faye Grant that over the years he had molested and exposed himself to at least three girls as young as 11. Grant secretly taped the confession on the advice of her lawyer because in California, the law permits secret recording of conversations for evidence in case of a violent felony. She and Collins are in the process of a divorce.

TMZ has obtained a copy of the tape and it included specific details about the issue stating that he had inappropriate contact with an 11-year-old girl from New York who was related to his first wife. He also allegedly confessed to exposing himself to the girl “a couple of times” when she was 11, 12, and 13.

An NYPD official tells TMZ that there is a current, active investigation. The official says there are "at least 3 victims" and the nature of the investigation is "inappropriate sexual contact with minors." Even with Collin’s confession, updated reports from TMZ say that the victim will not sue him civilly.

The woman who is now in her 50s said that she’s not coming out now to ask for money but to encourage others who may have been molested to come forward and seek justice.

Collins played the role of father of the Camden brood and reverend to the town's people in the show ‘7th Heaven’. He also starred in TV shows including The Fosters, Scandal, and Private Practice. He has also acted in movies such as Blood Diamond and All the President’s Men.
