Papa John's collaborates with PepsiCo to bring a twist to the American favorite pizza.
The pizza company uses PepsiCo's Fritos corn chips to create the fall dish Fritos Chili Pizza. The pie is best partnered with a Pepsi beverage and an eight-slice chocolate chip cookie cake. Customers can buy the pizza till November 23.
Fritos Chili Pizza features Papa John's signature crust with real beef, Roma tomatoes and onions, hearty chili sauce, topped with mozzarella cheese and cheddar. The time-tested recipe is baked into perfection and served with a generous amount of Fritos corn chips for a crunchy effect.
Papa John's chief marketing officer Bob Kraut said that they try to bring exciting new flavors every season.
"It seemed like a no-brainer to collaborate with our beverage partner PepsiCo to bring its popular Fritos corn chips snack to our pizza and combine these traditional tailgating fall favorites - chili, cheese and added crunch - with Papa John's signature fresh-dough crust," said Kraut.
Roberto Rios, PepsiCo Foodservice's chief marketing officer, said that that they're happy to bring their classic snack to the Papa John's family.
Rios said, "This delicious limited-time pizza brings together two iconic American brands in Fritos and Papa John's and we know their customers will love it."
In the the 1930's, PepsiCo's Frito-Lay division offered the Fritos Chili Pie which consisted corn chips, chili and cheese. It was distributed regionally across the country. Kraut said that it took Papa John's 30 years to put everything in a pizza, and they're happy to serve it during Halloween, their busiest time of the year.
