Taylor Swift's Cat Named After Mariska Hargitay's Character Olivia Benson, Hargitay Expresses Gratitude

Taylor Swift apparently loves cats.. and also the series Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. Combine those two? We get a cat named after Law & Order cast Mariska Hargitay's fan favorite character, Olivia Benson.

Last June 2004, the 24-year-old singer had introduced to the public via the social media platform, Instagram, her new feline friend. Because Hargitay was so touched that Swift named her cat after her character, she gave the Shake It Off singer an engraved collar in the shape of a heart for her furry companion to wear.

A couple of months ago, Hargitay had posted an Instagram photo of herself wearing the white collar she had engraved with Swift's pet's name, and then attached a slew of clever hashtags to the note, including "#MeowliviaBenson" "#PurrfectName" "ThisCollarNeedsACat" and "OliviaBensonPetDectective."

Hargitay recently revealed to Us Weekly that that she took a long time thinking how to express her gratitude to Swift, saying: "When she named her cat, I had so much going on. I was out of town, and when things calmed down, I thought it warranted a real something [special]. That's so sweet and too fabulous." She mentioned this during an interview promoting the 16th season premiere of SVU in New York City.

Over the summer, the blond country singer-songwriter had a chance to chat with Hargitay during an August concert featuring their mutual friend, Ingrid Michaelson. According to the SVU star, "Taylor is so great - beautiful, girly and lovely," she continued, "She's a huge fan of the show and was so gracious. When we met, I knew I had to do something great [to repay her]."

Looks like both women had hit it off and became good friends. Swift had also been so nice as she even offered to give Hargitay and her husband a ride home after the concert.
