MacBook Air vs Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro: A Showdown Between Apple and Microsoft Recently Launched Laptops

Nov 05, 2014 10:51 PM EST | By Adelyn Torralba

Earlier this week, Microsoft has released a video that advertised and promoted none other than the new Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro. However, it was more than just a promotional video: it actually pitted the Yoga 3 Pro, Windows-run device, against the newest Apple laptop offering which is the MacBook Air.

According to CNET, the video came with a caption that said, "It's an epic dance-off between the new Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro and the MacBook Air. But does the MacBook Air stand a chance against the sleekness and multi-mode flexibility of the Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro? Nope. And once you add the touchscreen, it's game over. The Yoga 3 Pro proves there's more than one way to do what you want."

With the ad having been released by Microsoft, these claims should already be expected, seeing that the latest device from Lenovo runs on the Microsoft Windows operating system. But what are the features that make the Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro "sleeker" and better than the MacBook Air?

As cited by Mirror, one of the weak spots that Microsoft has emphasized on the video is that the Apple device does not come with a touchscreen. Another was the fact that the Apple device was not designed to fold back on itself.

There were many other changes in the Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro that were pointed out as significant improvements and were claimed as advantages over the Apple MacBook Air.

The Yoga hybrid model, according to Mirror, has been improved in such a way that it came out thinner and lighter than its predecessors. As seen and heard on the ad, the Yoga 3 Pro is 13-mm thin, while the MacBook Air is considerably thicker and bulkier, being at 17 mm thick.

Another weakness of the MacBook Air that was also mentioned in the video was its lack of touchscreen functionalities, as reported by iDigitalTimes
