The release date of the highly anticipated next-level Android 5.0 Lollipop (also known as Android L) has been pushed back. Reports reveal that the Android operating system has been causing problems concerning the battery life of some phones carrying the newest android operating system.

Announced in June of this year, Android 5.0 Lollipop (also known as Android L) has been in development along with upcoming Nexus phones. After unleashing Android 5.0 Lollipop (Android L) source code available early this month, it seems like Android 5.0 Lollipop (also known as Android L) will be released to the public on a later date, as early reports reveal that Android 5.0 Lollipop (Android L) has negative effects on the phones' battery life.

In an Android Developer Preview thread where issues on the Android 5.0 Lollipop (Android L) were discussed, Trevor Johns (Senior Developer in Google Android) posted that Google was indeed working on the battery bug. He says, "Android Engineering is aware of an issue affecting Nexus 5 users running Android 5.0 which causes significant 'Miscellaneous' battery usage while WiFi is enabled. This appears to be caused by an abnormally high number of IRQ wakeup events. We are continuing to investigate this issue."

Upon the Android 5.0 Lollipop (Android L) release date set for November 12, Android 5.0 Lollipop (Android L) users will experience new features such as a revamped notification system that may be viewed on the lock screen. There is also a "do not disturb" feature for the notifications in the Android 5.0 Lollipop (Android L).

Among the many new features of Android 5.0 Lollipop (Android L), it promises to improve battery life through what is known as "Project Volta" that houses a new battery saver mode. However, to those with temporary updates of Android 5.0 Lollipop (Android L) currently using it, battery issues have been encountered.

Until the battery issues with this Android 5.0 Lollipop (Android L) is resolved, Google promises to optimize whatever time they have left before release date and investigate on the matter.
