U2 have joined the lineup of performers at the MTV EMAs in Glasgow on Sunday night, organizers said Friday.

It will be the band's fourth appearance on the MTV EMA stage after Rotterdam in 1997, Stockholm in 2000 and Berlin in 2009.

The band performed "Pop Muzik/Mofo" in Rotterdam, "Beautiful Day" in Stockholm and "One/Magnificent" and "Sunday Bloody Sunday" with Jay Z in Berlin.

Nicki Minaj is set to host the MTV EMAs. Previously announced performers include Enrique Iglesias, Ariana Grande, Ed Sheeran, Calvin Harris and Minaj.

British rock legend Ozzy Osbourne will be honored with the Global Icon Award.

Last year's show took place in Amsterdam.

Performers had included Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry, Bruno Mars and Eminem, with Red foo serving as the host.

MTV previously unveiled a new, socially focused award category for the MTV EMAs: Best Song with a Message.

It said the honor was designed to recognize songs that are having "an empowering impact on young people, tackling important issues they care about and inspiring them to have a social conscience."

MTV recently also whittled down a list of 286 international musical acts to just 10, which will compete for the best worldwide act award at the EMAs.

The list sees One Direction, representing Europe North, going up against 5 Seconds of Summer, flying the flag for Australia and New Zealand, and others.

Katy Perry leads the way at the MTV Europe Music Awards.

Topping the competition with seven nominations, the entertainer is included in the majority of the top categories, including best song (for her "Dark Horse" hit with Juicy J), best pop, best female best live and best U.S. act.
