Macaulay Caulkin Death Hoax: Macaulay Culkin Responds To Death Hoax Via Instagram

Nov 10, 2014 11:43 PM EST | By Staff Reporter

It was falsely reported Friday that Macaulay Culkin had died.

But the 34-year-old responded to the hoax with humour on Sunday.

The actor and his band, The Pizza Underground, posted two staged photos that parodied 1989 comedy, Weekend At Bernie's.

In the film, two slackers keep the eponymous Bernie around for a few days of partying and other antics - even though Bernie was dead before the weekend started.

The Pizza Underground's version, as posted to the band's official Instagram page, had Macaulay playing the role of Bernie.

One of his bandmates, meanwhile, was dressed as 'Anchovy' Warhol (a fitting touch of surrealism) and dragged Macaulay around.

With one photo from the group's Saturday night stage show and another from backstage, everyone seemed to be having a good time.

On Friday, a report began circulating that Home Alone actor Macaulay had been found dead in his New York City apartment.

But the actor-turned-musician dispelled the death hoax on Saturday as he shared photos proving that he's still very much alive and kicking.

The Home Alone star sported a smile while holding up a carbonated beverage with the note: 'We're on tour you silly people.'

In the midst of heading to a music festival in Austin, Texas, the former child star posted the pic under his band The Pizza Underground's Twitter handle of the group out in Louisiana.

To further confirm his current status, the scruffy blond put up another shot alongside his bandmates with the message: 'One of the great things you can do when you're alive is stop for lunch in Breaux Bridge, LA.'

His response comes after a fake news story went viral alleging the star had died in his home on Friday afternoon.

'Multiple unconfirmed reports say Culkin was found dead Friday afternoon in his Manhattan apartment after police responded to a wellness check requested by a family member,' the report claimed.

The item continued: 'At least one occupant of the Manhattan apartment confirmed the apartment belongs to Culkin but police have not confirmed the man's identity at this time.'
