‘Cinderella’ Live Action Set For TV Release 2 Years After Hitting Cinemas! Will It Have The Same Vibe As ‘Maleficent?’

Disney's 'Cinderella' live action movie will be gracing television screens as soon as two years after its theatrical release! Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. (which includes TBS, TNT and Cartoon Network) has already secured the rights to air the highly anticipated film according to Broadway.com.

The network will exclusively air the remake in the middle of 2017, a little over two years after its planned release on March 13, 2015.

The 'Cinderella' live action movie is not the only Disney movie remake that Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. secured. The live reboot for 'The Jungle Book,' which will be released on October 19, 2015, was also included in the deal.

Deborah K. Bradley, senior vice president, head of program acquisitions, content strategy and licensing for Turner Broadcasting System, Inc., shared what the company thought of the agreement.

"We are confident Disney's new live-action versions of Cinderella and The Jungle Book will appeal to a wide range of demographics and will enjoy extremely successful runs across our various branded networks," she said.

She also added, "These movies are the kind of tent-pole releases that will fit perfectly with Turner's ever-growing stable of blockbuster titles."

Meanwhile, anticipation has been rising for Kenneth Branagh's retelling of the classic fairytale. The first trailer only featured an animation of Ella's iconic glass slipper. The full trailer will hopefully show more of the story.

The film industry has been getting a lot of remakes of fairy tales that underwent drastic changes to its story ('Alice In Wonderland' and 'Maleficent'). Director Kenneth Branagh, on the other hand, reportedly wants to keep the original sentiments from 'Cendrillon' for the 'Cinderella' live action version.

The only difference in the story, will reportedly involve Ella's prince. In this version, she will meet him (who introduces himself as Kit) before the actual ball. Thinking that he is just a palace help, she will start a friendship with him before she finds out who he really is at the party.

The Academy Award nominee will reportedly arm her with courage and kindness, "as if goodness was a super-power."

'Downton Abbey' star Lily James will play Ella and 'Game Of Thrones' star Richard Madden will play Prince Charming (Kit) Cate Blanchett, Helena Bonham Carter, and Stellan Skarsgard all star in the new fairytale reboot.
