Since divorcing husband Tom Cruise, actress Katie Holmes has made drastic changes in her life, including firing the publicist she was given when she married Cruise for her old PR firm.

A statement from her former public relations company, Slate PR, stated that she was leaving and had signed with BWR Publication releases, which represented her prior to marrying Cruise.

"Following the announcement of her divorce from Tom Cruise, she is now represented by Leslie Sloane in the New York office and Nanci Ryder in Los Angeles. Katie is set to star alongside Chace Crawford in the upcoming film Responsible Adults which starts filming later this year," said the statement, as reported by gossip blog FansShare.

One of the reasons Holmes reportedly filed for divorce from Cruise, which was announced on Friday, was that she wanted to save her daughter, six-year-old Suri, who she had with Cruise, away from the hands of his religion, Scientology, and its school, noted TMZ.

Sources told TMZ that Holmes did not want her daughter Suri to join the Sea Organization, which apparently is where the "highest levels" of Scientology are taught to students as young as five years old. The children would be sent to live there, like a boarding school, without their parents, and TMZ was told that Cruise was eager to get his daughter administered, which Holmes was against.

Sea Org, as it is better known, according to the official Scientology website is "a one-billion-year pledge to symbolize their eternal commitment to the religion and it is still signed by all members today."

Stories recently surfaced that mysterious men in a white Cadillac Escalade were parked outside Holmes' home in New York City this past weekend, and refused to state who they were when The New York Daily News went to investigate on Sunday. Rumors surfaced that the men could be members of Scientology following Holmes, but the organization stated otherwise.

"There is no truth whatsoever to the TMZ.com report (or any other report) that the Church of Scientology has sent anyone to follow or surveil Katie Holmes," Gary Soter, a lawyer for the Church of Scientology International, told The News in an email.
