The Flash Series Spoiler: Barry Allen And Iris West Relationship, Where Is It Headed?

Dec 15, 2014 07:37 AM EST | By Evelyn Hammond

The Flash, which has just aired its winter finale, is having a great first season. It broke ratings in its first episode and then broke the PC of comic geeks with its epic crossover episode with Arrow that stars Stephen Amell in the title role. While Grant Gustin's Barry Allen welcomed new super friends, there's still one person that he can't get along with, at least on the kind of friendship that he wants.

It is no secret that Barry is in love with her childhood best friend Iris West (Candice Patton). However, he got no chance on her since Iris is already with Eddie (Rick Cosnett), his colleague at the police department. In the Flash comics, Iris and Barry ended up together. Now, with Barry deciding to stay away from Iris, fans are wondering, will they ever become more than just friends?

Patton was present during an episode of The Wrap's Drinking With the Stars. One thing she was asked was about the development of the relationship between Iris and Barry in the next The Flash series episodes. It looks like things don't look great and her relationship with Eddie will be affected.

"Iris is dealing with her relationship with Barry and Eddie and juggling those two (in the Flash TV series)," Patton said. "I think Eddie (Rick Cosnett) is finally starting to get the idea that Barry has stronger feelings for Iris. So, he confronts her about that and Iris finally asks Barry about it."

"It gets rougher," Patton added. "It gets worse before it gets better. But if you know anything about Barry and Iris, they just have a relationship that will, I feel like, stand the test of time."

Patton also said that if she can have it he way, she wants Iris to finally learn about the real identity of the Flash.

"I want to know that, but I don't write the show. I just show up to set," she joked.
