Miss World 2014: Miss South Africa Rolene Strauss Wins Miss World 2014; Miss Hungary Gets Runner Up, Miss USA Finishes 3rd

Rolene Strauss, Miss South Africa, was then named the new Miss World. 

The 22-year-old held her hands up to her face in shock and then hugged Miss Tyrrell - who was standing next to her - and Miss Australia Courtney Thorpe before being crowned on stage by Miss World 2013 Megan Young.

This year saw 125 contestants vying for the iconic title from countries including India, Brazil, Indonesia, Kenya, Guyana, Philippines, Bolivia, South Africa and Netherlands.

Ms Young, the Welsh actor and TV presenter Tim Vincent, and Mr World Canada 2013 and Miss World 2014 web presenter Frankie Cena are hosts for tonight's event at the ExCel London Exhibition and Convention Centre.

The competition sees entrants battle it out in categories including Miss World Top Model, Beach Fashion, Multimedia, Talent and Sports and Fitness.

Grammy award-nominated and multi-platinum artist Sky Blu from LMFAO and British boy band The Vamps will be performing in tonight's show.

The famous contest, now in its 64th year, was this year held in Britain which hosted the first competition

Miss England has narrowly missed out on winning Miss World 2014 in London.

Cambridge University medical student Carina Tyrrell, 24, was tipped as second favourite to win the title but narrowly missed out at the last minute to Miss South Africa.

Miss Tyrrell reached the semi-final of the 64th beauty pageant and was one of five contestants who could have scooped the coveted prize.

The top three places in the beauty pageant were announced in reverse order with Miss USA finishing in third and Miss Hungary being named runner-up.
