Half a decade after and we are finally hearing news about another sequel to one of the longest-running American horror franchise that has graced the big screen. "Friday the 13th" movie news reveals a 2015 release date and plot spoiler that speculates iconic serial killer Jason Voorhees to be replaced by his mother upon the 2015 release date of the movie set in the 1980s?

There have been 12 "Friday the 13th" movies since 1980 and the last one was "Friday the 13th" released in 2009. It's no wonder that makers are taking a long time to develop the next since will it be the 13th installment and they're probably going to make this one extra special. However, "Friday the 13th" movie seems to be generating more buzz online now as updates are slowly being revealed.

First is the release date for "Friday the 13th". Although this might be old news, it was reported early on that Paramount has set "Friday the 13th" release date to March 13, 2015. However, Cinemablend reports in the following months that "Scouts Vs. Zombies" takes this release date, with "Friday the 13th" release date moving a few months after, on November 13, 2015.

Recent speculations for "Friday the 13th" movie also reveals that while iconic murderer Jason Voorhees has returned in all 12 installments of the movie, there's a possibility that he may not in this latest "Friday the 13th" movie. This rumor is based on what producers Brad Fuller and Andrew Form shared in a recent interview.

According to Fuller and Form in an interview with Omelete (translated by Bloody Disgusting), the plot of the movie remains classic "Friday the 13th". It will ultimately still involve "sex, drugs, always beautiful people dying, these things do not change. And we can develop more problematic relationship [Jason] with the mother."

While this is not directly insinuating that Jason Voorhees will be replaced by his mother as killer in the upcoming "Friday the 13th" 2015 movie, it does say that there might be more into the dysfunctional relationship that audiences have yet to find out.

"Friday the 13th" setting is also said to be revealed in the interview, with the site sharing that "the film will likely take place during the 80's because the producers want to recover the feel of the first film."

Stay tuned for more news and updates including release date of the upcoming "Friday the 13th" movie set for 2015.
