Tom Cruise visited his daughter Suri in New York City on Tuesday for the first time since he and actress Katie Holmes announced their divorce settlement on July 9, People magazine reported.

The film star, 50, was photographed carrying his daughter into his Manhattan hotel Tuesday after flying overnight from California, where he finished shooting the movie "Oblivion" on Sunday. Suri, 6, wraps one arm around the "Mission: Impossible" star's neck and clutches a stuffed animal toy in the other. The father and daughter plan to spend several days together in New York City.

According to RadarOnline.com, Cruise and Suri have been video chatting since the divorce was announced. The site also claims the confidential divorce settlement specifically allowed that form of communication. Cruise will making regular payments for 12 years, which will end up being more than $10 million for child support by the time Suri turns 18.

Cruise and Holmes have reached a divorce settlement earlier last week - details have not been released - and Holmes will have primary custody of Suri, but Cruise will have a "meaningful relationship" with his child.

Earlier on Monday night, Katie Holmes and Suri were involved in a minor car accident when their Mercedes was struck by a garbage truck in New York. The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. EDT on Monday. Police would not confirm if Holmes and Suri were in the car, but according to photos snapped by the paparazzi, Holmes is peering out the window after the car was struck. No one was harmed in the incident, the police said.
