Star Wars Episode 7 The Force Awakens Cast Update: Characters Names From Trailer Revealed!

| By

Jurassic Park, Marvel's Avengers: Age of Ultron and Ant Man, Mission Impossible 5 and the latest James Bond flick "Spectre" - all are films to be released this year and are expected to break the record in box office sales.

Perhaps the most anticipated movie of 2015, appropriately ending the year with it's release in December is Star Wars Episode 7: The Force Awakens. Directed by J.J. Abrams, the seventh installment of the saga had wrapped up with filming a few months ago and was shortly followed by a full trailer, giving fans and moviegoers a first-look of what's in store for them at the end of the year.

The trailer featured elements that are quintessentially Star Wars: Land Speeders, X-Wing Starfighters and some footage of the Millenium Falcon in battle. The footage also introduced new characters, and Abrams was kind enough to reveal some details on them.

In an exclusive with Entertainent Weekly, the director gave out the names of the new characters in the form of mocked-up trading cards:

  • In the opening scene, a Storm Trooper sans his helmet can be seen in a desert, presumably Tatooine. This character's name is Finn and is played by actor John Boyega.
  • The alliance pilot show inside a cockpit is a pilot that goes by the name Poe Dameron, played by Oscar Isaac.
  • Though his face isn't revealed, the sinister-like character walking along the forest who turns his lightsaber on is named Kylo Ren.
  • The woman seen riding a speeder along the desert is actress Daisy Ridley playing a character named Rey. Like Boyega's Storm Trooper, their last names have not yet been revealed.
  • The spherical droid rolling along the ground is called BB-8.

Meanwhile, it has been reported by various sources that Episode 8 is already on its way, with director Rian Johnson's (Looper) name attached to it.

The upcoming film stars Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill reprising their old roles and will feature new talents such as Adam Driver, Gwendoline Christie and Oscar Award winner Lupita Nyong'O.

Star Wars Episdode 7: The Force Awakens is set to arrive in theaters December 18th.
