As with the Marvel and DC circles, 20th Century Fox has been busy with their calendar of movies - a "Fantastic Four" remake scheduled for release this year, Ubisoft's popular video game "Assassin's Creed" getting its own feature film starring Michael Fassbender set for December next year and their strongest franchise "X Men: Apocalypse," directed by Bryan Singer also coming in 2016.
Surprising news comes from the studio as they have officially announced that Channing Tatum will be playing "Gambit" in a spin-off with a release date set for October 7, 2016 to boot.
Reports say that albeit a brief cameo, "Gambit" might still appear in "X Men: Apocalypse."
"Gambit was always like the woman-loving, cigarette-smoking, drinking guy. He was the punk rock of all the superheroes. He's a thief. He kind of rode the line." - said Tatum of his mutant character (via Empire Online).
Meanwhile, they have also announced a third "Planet of The Apes" movie to be directed by Matt Reeves and a P.T. Barnum movie "The Greatest Showman On Earth" starring Hugh Jackman.
The "Fantastic Four" remake stars Kate Mara, Jamie Bell, Michael B. Jordan, Miles Teller and Toby Kebbell will make its way to the big screen on June 2, 2017 with Matt Reeves following up with the "Dawn of The Planet of The Apes" sequel on July 14, 2017.
Three "X Men" films have been set for 2016. Kicking things off is Ryan Reynolds as the "merc with a mouth" in "Deadpool" on February 12 followed by "X Men: Apocalypse" on May 27. Channing Tatum will close off the year starring as Remy LaBeau in "Gambit" on October 7.
"Wolverine 3" arrives on March 3, 2017 followed by an untitled "X Men" movie scheduled for July 13, 2018.
