Robert Pattinson has yet to speak publicly on the betrayal of girlfriend Kristen Stewart with Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders, but friends close to him say he was planning to propose to Stewart before the scandal broke out.
NY Post sources say Pattinson was "stunned" when he found out that admitted to kissing the 41-year old director who is nearly twice her age. Robert Pattinson is "heartbroken and humiliated" after finding out Stewart was unfaithful to him.
The "Twilight" actor, 26, had been making plans to propose to Stewart, 22, his girlfriend - although only official now - of four years, Pattinson's friend told Us Weekly. He wanted to "spend the rest of his life with her," the source said.
According to the magazine, Kirsten Stewart was overheard saying that she was ready to have a baby with Pattinson at a wedding the couple attended in New Jersey on June 23.
The cheating scandal first broke out when photos of the Stewart and Sanders kissing on July 17 appeared on the cover of Us Weekly.
Kristen and Rupert both acknowledged what happened and issued statements of regret. "I'm deeply sorry for the hurt and embarrassment I've caused to those close to me and everyone this has affected," Stewart said in a statement Wednesday, according to Perez Hilton. "This momentary indiscretion has jeopardized the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob. I love him, I love him, I'm so sorry,"
Sanders said that he is "utterly distraught about the pain I have caused my family," in a statement to People. "My beautiful wife and heavenly children are all I have in this world. I love them with all my heart. I am praying that we can get through this together."
The 41-year-old British director is married to actress Liberty Ross, 33 - who ironically starred as Kristen Stewart's mother in Snow White - have two children together, 7-year-old daughter Skyla and 5-year-old son Tennyson.
Reports have surfaced that Pattinson has moved out from the Los Angeles home he shared with Kristen Stewart.
