When "Orphan Black" Season 3 release date comes, one major plot that fans will ponder on is the arrival of male clones. This concept was introduced to the viewers at the finale of the second season. Males clones will be played by Ari Millen who appeared earlier in the show's sophomore run as Mark, a homicidal Prolethean who kidnapped Helena (Sarah Manning). This is definitely a game changer for the BBC America sci-fi series. The male clones won't just rival their female counterparts, they will also be serving as in a top-of-the-line army.

Although the male projects will be explored more in the third season, the brain trust of the show said they have been part of their discussions ever since the beginning. According to series co-creator John Fawcett, Ari Millen's expanding role in the show has been part of the agenda even before they got to confirm there will have "Orphan Black" Season 3.

"I think Project Castor was always part of our original plan from the very beginning: there was going to be a male faction in the overall puzzle," Fawcett said during the Television Critics Association's winter press tour.

"In the process of season two, we cast Ari in the role of Mark, but that character was interesting, because originally we were going to kill him. But it was a little bit of an organic process: who was going to be the face of Project Castor? And partway throughout season two, we realized our answer, and that's how that came to be."

One of the first male clones that will grace the show when "Orphan Black" Season 3 release its first episode is Rudy, a dangerous military-trained man whose mission is to hunt Tatiana Maslany's female clones.

"It's pretty clear there's a military angle to Castor," Fawcett told the Entertainment Weekly.

"Rudy is a threat to the sisters. Rudy is a dangerous character who is very, very smart and very ruthless. The guy has seen some action. He's a trained fighter, likely by the military."
