Actor Jeffrey Tambor Says There Are Talks Of 'Hellboy 3' Release Date; Should They Bring Back 'Big Red' On The Big Screen?

Originally an adaptation of Mike Mignola's comic book, "Hellboy" has attained success on the big scren since its debut in 2004. This can be all attributed to director Guillermo Del Toro's visually stunning approach in filmaking and actor Ron Perlman, who plays the title role under heavy prosthetics. No stranger to wearing another face in movies, the actor played similar costumed roles on "Island of Dr. Moreau" and 1987's "Beatuy and The Beast" series.

"Hellboy" struggled at the box office at first, with the first and second movie not even managing to break even in domestic sales. Because of this, the plans of a third "Hellboy" film is unlikely to manifest.

Del Toro has since worked on another title from Legendary, "Pacific Rim," with plans of making it a trilogy.

The director spoke about the future of "Hellboy" during a Reddit AMA last year.

"It is a question that I myself ask of the world many times, but we have gone through basically every studio and asked for financing, and they are not interested. I think that the first movie made its budget back, and a little bit of profit, but then it was very very big on video and DVD. The story repeated itself with the second already, it made its money back at the box office, but a small margin of profit in the release of the theatrical print, but was very very big on DVD and video. Sadly now from a business point of view all the studios know is that you don't have that safety net of the DVD and video, so they view the project as dangerous."

But recent news from actor Jeffrey Tambor contradict Del Toro's statement as he claims that there is "talk" about another film.

Tambor gave the slightest glimmer of hop for the series in an appearance on "The Colbert Show."

Quote from Screen Rant.

"There is actually talk of a 'Hellboy 3,' but they better hurry or I'm going to be in a walker."
