BBC confirms "Doctor Who" season 9 release date this autumn, and unleashes episode title. Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman begin filming, with "Game of Thrones" Paul Kaye joining the cast.
Cast members Peter Capaldi who will portray the 12th incarnation of the Doctor and Jenna Coleman who will play Clara Oswald began filming in Cardiff early last month. Paul Kaye, known for his work in HBO's "Game of Thrones" as Thoros of Myr, joins the "Doctor Who" season 9 cast in the first production block that includes episodes 3 and 4.
According to BBC, Stephen Moffat shared that "Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman are back in Cardiff, back in the box, and back in action-for one of our scariest adventures yet!"
In the same report, the new addition to the cast roster Paul Kaye talks about his role in the upcoming "Doctor Who" season 9. He said, "As a kid of the 1970s, the two shows you always watched were 'Top of the Pops' and 'Doctor Who,' they were unmissable."
"I actually wrote a song called 'Looking for Davros' in my first punk band and I sand it like a demented Dalek," Kaye said. "I got to present TOTP back in the mid 90s and landing this role in 'Doctor Who' completes the dream double."
Apart from Paul Kaye, other cast members have signed on into "Doctor Who" season 9. Among them are Archer Ali, Morven Christie, Neil Fingleton, Zaqi Ismail, Colin McFarlane, Steven Robertson, and Sophie Stone.
While there is yet a definite release date to be revealed, "Doctor Who" season 9 will not be interrupted by a mid-season break as shared by writer Stephen Moffat. According to Den Of Geek, Moffat said "We're not going to do splits [in Season 8], and the same format will repeat exactly [for Season 9] the following year [2015] like that. So it will be the traditional form."
