Will ‘Game Of Thrones’ Star Kit Harington Die In Season 5? Which Characters Could Be Saying Goodbye Soon?

George RR Martin is known for mercilessly killing off characters from his bestselling book series, "A Song Of Ice And Fire," adapted by HBO into one of this age's most successful TV shows. Now fans have become fearful that "Game Of Thrones" star Kit Harington, along with other fan favorites, could die in season five.

This panic started when the celebrated writer warned fans of unexpected deaths for some characters at the Writers Guild West Awards last Tuesday.

According to New York Post, the author told readers of the book who also watch the series that "people are going to die [in 'Game of Thrones'] who don't die in the books."

"So, even the book readers will be unhappy. Everybody better be on their toes," he added.

So is "Game Of Thrones" star Kit Harington's beloved character, Jon Snow, part of the unfortunate list?

Hopefully, he won't be.

The Waterstones bookstore recently released Martin's original pitch for the (then) "A Song Of Ice And Fire" trilogy to Harper Collins. In the scanned letter, five characters are set to live on until the final book: Danaerys Targaryen, Tyrion Lannister, Arya Stark, Bran Stark and Jon Snow.

Additionally, five main actors of "Game Of Thrones" signed renewal contracts for season five to seven with additional raises last October. The list included Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen), Kit Harington (Jon Snow), Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister), Lena Headey (Cersei Lannister), and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister).

Although HBO was quick to point that the renewal did not guarantee their characters' safety until the last season, fans were still somewhat mollified by the extension in the contracts.

Even "Game Of Thrones" star Kit Harington thinks the series will run on for a while.

"I don't know how many series it will run for but if I had to guess, this is my guess, not informed, I'd say probably seven," he told GQ.

Hopefully, he will keep his head until the very last episode of that seventh season.
