'Penny Dreadful’ Season 2: Reeve Carney Likes Acting As Dorian Gray In ‘Various States Of Undress?’ How Far Will He Go For The Role?

Oscar Wilde's Dorian Gray is one of the most debauched characters in literary history and "Penny Dreadful" season 2 cast Reeve Carney took the role to new heights in the Showtime drama.

Fans have seen him melancholic, in love, impassioned and even rejected on the show but what part does Carney enjoy filming the most?

According to the actor and musician, he loves filming Dorian Gray in "various states of undress."

"That can be terrifying, and I'd never done anything like it, but the worst thing you can do in that kind of situation is go halfway," he told Out Magazine.

Despite feeling the pressure of filming bed scenes, Carney still pushes on to bring out the best Dorian Gray that he can.

"I try to go as far as I possibly can," he admitted.

In a round table discussion with Penny Dreadful fans (called "Dreadfuls"), he shared that he warns his family in advance about his raunchy scenes in the series.

Meanwhile, what will happen to Dorian Gray in "Penny Dreadful" season 2? Will we finally see the mysterious painting?

As per the literature, Dorian's magical painting absorbs all the sickness and wounds that he receives physically, allowing him to live forever. In turn, his portrait becomes a mangled version of his own soul.

After a whole season, however, fans are still kept in the dark about the painting. Even Carney hasn't seen the actual thing, admitting that he just stares at a blank canvas during filming most of the time.

"I think that's much more terrifying because you're imagination can be much more terrifying than reality," he said in the video released by Showtime.

Meanwhile, the group will be facing a much more "human" villain for "Penny Dreadful" season 2.

"While season 1 was about bringing together the 'family,' season two deals heavily in the occult; evil is given a face: Madame Kali, someone who can be considered a pure villain," Carney teased.

"Penny Dreadful" season 2 will premiere on May 3 on Showtime. Meanwhile, watch the trailer below.
