Zlatan Ibrahimovic News Update: PSG Star's Red Card In UCL Match Vs Chelsea To Stand, Player Also Set To Miss One Match

Paris Saint-Germain has all the rights to celebrate their win over Chelsea in the 2nd leg of the UCL match. It was a difficult task for them in order to advance to the quarterfinals of the European competition. Coach Laurent Blanc's side were playing on the road from a 1-1 tie at home. Then, they lost Zlatan Ibrahimovic in just the 31st minute because of an undeserved red card. That was definitely a sweet victory. However, coming to the next round, they will have to deal with a bad Zlatan Ibrahimovic news.

The 33-year old striker is in danger of missing the first leg of their quarterfinals match after UEFA asserted Zlatan Ibrahimovic's offense warrants a red card. The Daily Mail's Sportsmail reported:

"UEFA have told Sportsmail that clubs can only appeal red cards if they believe the referee has mistaken the identity of the offender. All red cards picked up in European competitions carry an automatic one-match ban which may be increased to three after a disciplinary panel reviews footage. UEFA says the panel will study the case at its March 19 meeting."

This Zlatan Ibrahimovic news will definitely leave a knack to PSG's line-up as Champions League progresses. Quarterfinals is a difficult round and a team has to have its best team complete. So far, clubs who have made it to the next round besides Paris Saint Germain are Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.

PSG thinks Zlatan Ibrahimovic's red card was ridiculous. So is Jose Mourinho. Shortly after the match, the Chelsea manger told media that his former player at Inter Milan should be allowed to play in the quarterfinals.

"I spoke to him after the game and when he speaks with me he's always honest," Mourinho told Matt Barlow of the Daily Mail.

"He would tell me if it was a reason for a red card, and he was very disappointed so if that's the case, I hope they can minimize the mistake and let him play the quarter-final. If he did nothing wrong, he deserves that."
