‘Sherlock’ Season 4 Christmas Special Is In ‘Its Own Little Bubble!’ What Should Fans Expect In The Upcoming Episode?

The "Sherlock" season 4 Christmas special is "pretty much finished" according to Entertainment Weekly.

The BBC show showrunners Stephen Moffat and Mark Gatiss have been dropping hints about the highly anticipated new season through interviews and the social media. However, the biggest spoiler that fans received came from Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman themselves.

Stars of the Emmy Award winning show have been spotted filming around London wearing Victorian-era clothes.

During an interview with EW, Moffat basically confirmed the change in era for the "Sherlock" season 4 Christmas special.

Previous speculations about the leaked photos being a dream sequence or something to that effect was debunked when Moffat confirmed that the whole 90 minutes of the episode will be set in Victorian London.

"The special is its own thing," the show creator reportedly told the publication on Monday. ""We wouldn't have done the story we're doing, and the way we're doing it, if we didn't have this special."

He also confirmed that the episode will not be connected to the usual three-episode run of the very popular British series.

"So we had this to do it - as we could hardly conceal - it's Victorian," he added. "[Co-creator Mark Gatiss] and me, we wanted to do this, but it had to be a special, it had to be separate entity on its own. It's kind of in its own little bubble."

The current show put Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's celebrated literary work in the modern era instead of having it in the original 19th century London.

Although no air date has been released for the "Sherlock" season 4 Christmas special, Moffat revealed that he is "very pleased" with the finished episode.

Moffat, however, did not confirm whether Sherlock's mortal enemy, Jim Moriarty, is coming back in season four. Season three left off with a massive cliffhanger that promised a reunion between the two arch nemesis.
