Fans of One Direction were shocked when they found out that Zayn Malik quit the boyband, which means that he won't be performing in their world tour anymore.
So what could be the reason? According to the group's publicist Simon Jones, the 22-year-old singer needs some time off to fix himself.
"1D statement: Zayn has signed off with stress and is flying back to the UK to recuperate. The band wish him well and will continue with their performances in Manila and Jakarta," the publicist wrote on Twitter. Many people are wondering why the singer is stressed out and there were reports that it could be about the alleged cheating scandal.
Zayn Malik got engaged to Perrie Edwards back in August 2013, but their wedding may not push through because of an alleged hook up with another woman in Thailand. The 1D singer was seen cuddling and giving the blonde beauty some PDAs. Hollywood Life did some research and found out that the name of the mystery girl is Lauren Rich.
After the cheating rumors came out, the One Direction singer took Twitter to apologize to his fiancée.
"I'm 22 years old... I love a girl named Perrie Edwards. And there's a lot of jealous f**s in this world I'm sorry for what it looks like," Zayn wrote.
Mirror reported that the British singer was greatly affected by the controversy.
"Zayn finds it tougher than the rest of his band-mates dealing with fame. Having his every movement scrutinised causes great anxiety and the pictures which surfaced with the fan yesterday was the final straw," a source revealed to The Sun.
The website also reported that he just posed with the fan, but the tabloids starting creating stories that he cheated on the Little Mix member. "He did nothing wrong but the amount of criticism he received was simply too much. He needs to get away," the insider said.
With Zayn Malik ditching One Direction and their world tour, fans are desperately hoping that the singer will be able to resolve all his issues soon.
