After a number of hints and teases, "Avengers" cast Jeremy Renner is confirmed to join the lineup of "Captain 3," Mirror and Slash Film exclusively reported.

No official announcement has been made however.

In his previous interview with MTV the 44-year-old star already hinted his involvement in the third sequel of "Captain America."

"I'm happy to be the ensemble," Renner said when asked if it's possible for his character, Hawkeye, to have a standalone film. "I'm not scratching or clawing to do a solo movie by any means."

Adding, "I think he's a utility guy that can bounce around into other people's universes a little bit, especially like 'Cap 3.'"

His statement immediately sparked rumors that he is joining the ensemble of "Captain America: Civil War" together with his "Avengers" co-stars Robert Downey Jr. and Scarlett Johansson.

In a separate interview with Collider, Jeremy Renner once again talked about his involvement in the movie.

"There are rumblings of 'Captain America 3.' I don't know what's going to happen there. I've got to find the time, man (laughs). I'm trying to stay home and I can't," he answered when asked about how he finds time in his busy schedule.

Meanwhile, Joe Russo, the other half of the Russo brothers who'll be directing "Captain America 3," played coy about "Avengers" cast Jeremy Renner's involvement during an interview with Crave Online.

"We can't. That's part of our cone of silence. My head would explode. You saw Scanners, right?" Joe Russo answered when asked to clarify the rumors involving Renner and "Captain America 3."

"Yeah, that's loosely based on Marvel's policy. Their security team is now... My head will blow up. I can't tell you," he reiterated.

In addition to his Marvel films, Renner is also included in Tom Cruise's "Mission Impossible 5" movie titled "Rogue Nation." He'll also return to reprise his role in the "Bourne" franchise as Aaron Cross with a possible team up with Matt Damon.

While it hasn't been confirmed yet, "Avengers" cast Jeremy Renner is also said to return in the sequel of "Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters."
