Will ‘CSI Cyber’ Be Cancelled Or Renewed? Is This The End Of The ‘Crime Scene Investigation’ Franchise?

According to Zap2It's TV By The Numbers predictions, the show that Patricia Arquette's ventured into after "Boyhood" is now in a "toss up" between getting cancelled or renewed.

CBS' new procedural is still three episodes in but ratings have reportedly been consistently dismal despite the promising cast.

Alec Stern from Michigan Daily laments the waste on Arquette's talent with what he calls as the "the lowest rung of the network television ladder" and "a franchise cash cow."

"It's experimental in no way. The stories span little time, emotions or growth. Character development is sacrificed for another trail that runs dry. And even with just one storyline, one angle and one goal, it always feels as though the wheels are spinning too fast," the article commented.

Meanwhile, Gizmodo said that the show is "immensely comforting and entertaining" despite it being "a formulaic, corporate-spit-shined, bland piece of crap."

"CSI Cyber" may be cancelled or renewed this May but the show has shown some promise in making potentially boring cyber crime fighting into scenarios that normal individuals could somewhat relate to.

The premiere dealt with an unconventional kidnapping where the suspects hacked into web-dependent baby monitors for black market auction for infants.

Last week's episode was perhaps the closest to a real life issue. The team had to figure out who hacked into Zogo's (an Uber-like company) network to lure out random people to murder.

The serial killer turns out to be a father whose son was killed in a hit-and-run involving a Zogo driver.

Vulture commended the show for "jumping right into serious controversy."

Will the fourth episode be able to pull up the "CSI" spinoff's ratings?

In the same way, "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" is also facing grim reports after its last season got cut down to 18 episodes from 22. It lost another original cast member as well. George Eads played Nick Stokes in all of the show's 15 seasons.

CBS still hasn't announced whether the long-running procedural will be coming back for season 16 or not.

Do you think "CSI Cyber" will be cancelled or will its ratings pick up in future episodes?
