When One Direction's Zayn Malik decided to leave the band, fans of all age and gender became very vocal about their dismay and disbelief.
Directioners (who are known to be quite devoted to the quintet) burst into tears and some even posted their reactions on social media.
Despite the hysteria, this isn't the first time that a member of a famous boy or girl band left their group for personal or other reasons.
Most of these members left their bands to pursue their solo careers. With reports of Malik hanging out with producer Naughty Boy after the announcement, it looks like he would also be going into that direction as well.
Some groups who lost their members include Backstreet Boys (Kevin Richardson left in 2006 but came back in 2011), Nsync (Justin Timberlake), Spice Girls (Geri Halliwell), Blink 182 (Tom DeLonge), Westlife (Brian MacFadden), O-Town (Ashley Parker Angel decided not to join the group's reunion in 2014) and Paramore (brothers Josh and Zac Farro).
