Fans of Portuguese actor Diogo Morgado might have gotten used to seeing him as Jesus in "Son Of God" but it looks like he will be having a different image when "The Messengers" CW premiere rolls around.
In the teasers for the new apocalyptic series, Morgado is seen falling to Earth as a mysterious character called "The Man." His fall affects five different individuals who initially die at the impact but suddenly wakes up with some kind of powers.
Who is "The Man" exactly? Expectant viewers are speculating that he could be the Devil. Morgado skirts somewhat clears the air up during his interview with Nuke The Fridge.
When asked point blank if his character is the Devil, he teases that the mysterious character is "definitely dark."
"His purpose, the way he's going to be presented along the series, it's going to be revealing, interesting and surprising. We never say that he's The Devil. He's the darkest," he shared.
Viewers will find out just how dark on "The Messengers" CW premiere this Friday.
The "Son Of God" star was quick to add though that The Man's actions aren't blindly evil either.
"He's the baddest of the story. But his intention and his purpose has some logic. We're going to find out later on. I don't see him as The Devil as we know it," he continued, revealing that the mysterious fellow has no powers or any capabilities to inflict pain on anybody.
He can only manipulate people, without interfering with their free will.
Why did the 34-year-old hunk take on this character which is totally the opposite of his previous role as the Messiah in "Son Of God"?
"The way he manipulates and the way he actually creates the struggle between good and evil in all of us, that was the most interesting thing for me," he admitted. "For an actor, that's the best you can have after something so special and so enlightening, to have something dark and mysterious and complex."
