‘Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them’ Filming Not Starting Anytime Soon! Is David Heyman Considering Eddie Redmayne For Lead?

"Harry Potter" fans are very excited for its spinoff, "Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them," to hit cinemas in 2018.

With only three years to go before Warner Brothers releases the trilogy's first offering, speculations are already being thrown around about who will take on the lead film's lead role.

At one point, "Dr. Who" alum Matt Smith was rumored to be a contender before Variety claimed that Academy Award-winning actor Eddie Redmayne was a "favorite" to play the lead in "Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them."

Another British actor was reportedly also being considered for the job. According to the publication's source, Jennifer Lawrence's ex-byofriend and "X-Men" series star Nicholas Hoult is also a good contender for Newt Scamander.

According to producer David Heyman's interview with Collider, however, the studio still hasn't finalized their choice for the lead character yet.

"We're early on in our casting process," he replied when asked if Eddie Redmayne was indeed considered for the role of Newt Scamander. "There are some really exciting possibilities for the parts, but we're still very early on in the journey."

Although the studio already released the projected release dates for the three films, production is still pretty much not happening any time soon.

"Jo is writing, and we don't yet have a start date," Heyman continued. "We're in the very early stages of pre-production and development."

He's also looking forward get a move on with the "Fantastic Beast And Where To Find Them" and called his chance to be able to work with JK Rowling again "exciting".

"I can't wait," he told Collider "Jo (Rowling) has got such an incredible imagination, and it's lovely to be in the wizarding world again."
