NBA MVP 2015 Race: Kobe Bryant Picking The Player With 'More Responsibilities'

May 02, 2015 12:01 PM EDT | By Rolly Gacelo

The 2015 NBA MVP is about to be named and fans have already made their picks. Some analysts say this year could be the tightest MVP race NBA has ever seen.

Among the front runners are Golden State Warriors All-Star point guard Stephen Curry and Houston Rockets shooting guard James Harden. Both have good cases to win the highest individual award in the league. Now, if it is one-time MVP and five-time champion Kobe Bryant that you will ask, he will go for someone who has bigger responsibilities for his team, and that is James Harden.

Michael Yo of Yahoo's The Insider talked to Kobe Bryant about the NBA MVP 2015 race and the Black Mamba obliged to give his take. The Los Angeles Lakers star said he finds it hard to choose between Curry and Harden but when it goes down to who will be missed the most by their team, it will be his former Olympic teammate.

"That is a tough call, you have James [Harden] who has been playing consistent all through the season. Steph [Curry], who has been doing phenomenal things. That is a tough call for me but I would have to say James [Harden]," Kobe Bryant told Yo when asked for the NBA MVP 2015 contest.

"[James Harden] had to keep that team afloat. I think the team actually got better, when he went down. Which is hard to do. So I think with the responsibilities he had to deal with this season I'd vote James [Harden]."

Both Harden and Curry still have chance to strengthen their case for the NBA MVP race. Houston Rockets are now in the second round and will face Memphis Grizzlies with them having the homecourt advantage. Overall top team Golden State Warriors are also through to the second round and is still waiting for either San Antonio Spurs or Los Angeles Clippers.
