Oct 11, 2012 12:21 PM EDT | By Staff Reporter

A second suspect was arrested on Wednesday in connection to the shooting at a local McDonald's restaurant, the Columbia Police Department announced Thursday.

According to the Midlands Connect, police have charged Torance Lamar Peoples, 20, with possession of a weapon during a violent crime, possession of a firearm of by a person convicted of a violent crime, discharging a firearm into an occupied building and seven counts of attempted murder.

Peoples was on the run for nearly a month before U.S. Marshals and police tracked him down Wednesday at a Parklane Road Days Inn.

Terrell Lamont Bethel, 23, was arrested in September and is currently at Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center. Bethel is also facing the same charges as Peoples.

The two are accused of firing into a crowd at a McDonalds restaurant at Two Notch Road and North Beltline Boulevard Sept. 15 after an argument in the restaurant's parking lot.

The argument escalated into a physical fight and then several suspects drew guns and fired, police say.

According to Columbia Police, September 15, 2012, shortly after 9:00 p.m., Peoples and Bethel fired a gun into a crowd at the McDonald's restaurant located at the corner of Two Notch Road and Beltline Boulevard.  Preliminary information suggests that Peoples and Bethel were a part of at least two groups that were arguing in the parking lot.
