'Agents of SHIELD' Season 2 Finale Postmortem: Is The Team Disbanded? Show's EP Speaks

May 14, 2015 11:19 PM EDT | By Rolly Gacelo

Before the "Agents of SHIELD" season 2 finale aired, everyone expected more actions, deaths, and closures.

The ABC TV series provided all of them.

The show's penultimate two-hour episode for its sophomore run featured terrific fight scenes, especially the one between Agent Ward (Brett Dalton) and Bobbi Morse (Adrienne Palicki). It also saw Skye (Chloe Bennett) and her family finally getting split apart because of her mother's wrong decisions. The only problem is that her father does not know her anymore after undergoing an operation suggested by Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg).

With the "Agents of SHIELD" season 2 finale done, what is next for the team? Coulson's group was somehow disbanded as each member have their business to take care of. Bobbi is still injured. Mack decided he would rather join an alien artifact watch. Agent May (Ming Na Wen) decided to have a vacation and Jemma Simmons (Iain De Castesecker) was devoured by a mysterious creature.

Executive Producer Jeffrey Bell hints fans should not feel worried about the fate of the team after the "Agents of SHIELD" season 2 finale. When the show resumes this fall, everyone will still be around. However, major changes might also take place.

"Our team is coming back. As we did after the first season, there were a lot of changes," Bell said in an interview with Comic Book Resources shortly after the finale aired.

"Not too much in personnel, but in who they were and what roles they played. We introduced Henry [Simmons], Adrianne [Palicki] and Nick [Blood] this season, but everybody else has gone through some big changes. It's much more about how can we continue to make this show evolve episode-to-episode, season-to-season. The fact they managed to survive this year? Congratulations to all of them! Come on back, and let's see how next year goes."

"Agents of SHIELD" season 2 finale garnered a 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic, a 13% week to week drop from last week's 1.5 rating in the same demographic.
