Steven Gerrard Transfer To MLS Makes Liverpool Fans Sad But Midfielder Wants Reds To Move On By Signing A Striker

| By

There is no stopping Steven Gerrard transfer to top American soccer league MLS. Last Saturday, the English midfielder was given a well-deserved tribute by Liverpool at Anfield for his 17-year-service to the club.

He will join Los Angeles Galaxy on July this year. The departure of one of the best midfielders and one of the most loyal players in England surely saddened many followers. However, for the 34-year old football star, the team should move on and they can do so by signing scorers.

With Steven Gerrard's transfer, Liverpool did not only lose a leader, they also opened one spot for an offensive minded player and for the English Premier League legend, the Reds' front office must work on bringing a scorer, someone who can record up to 30 goals per season.

"To get into the top four, you are going to need a striker who can score 25-30 goals a season. That is just the way it is," Gerrard told media after their 1-3 loss to Crystal Palace. "That is where we came up short this season."

Steven Gerrard also recalled the team's success when they still had super scorer Luis Suarez who is now with Barcelona and has just won a national trophy, something that was deprived from Stevie G.

"It was always going to be tough when we lost Luis Suarez [sold to Barcelona], but I thought we could definitely finish in the top four positions if we kept Daniel Sturridge fit and he could perform like he did alongside Luis.

"I don't want to stand on the owners or Brendan's toes. I am just speaking as a fan, but that is what we need to do. I wouldn't buy any more potential in the short-term. I would buy players that are ready to come and fight and win and be successful."

In his 17 years of playing for Liverpool, Steven Gerrard won 10 trophies both in national and international level.
