A few months ago, there were reports that "Ghostbusters 3" will be shot in New York just like the two previous films.

"To me it's such a New York movie and the biggest sin would be to pull it out of there," Paul Feig told Empire. "I just love New York and, selfishly, I just want to shoot in New York."

The "Bridesmaids" director also explained that they won't be completely moving away from Ivan Reitman's films.

"We're not recreating the old movie but we want to do just enough fun nods that the fans will go, 'Oh, okay, they're acknowledging that the other movie existed,'" he explained.

However, it seems that "Ghostbusters 3" director Paul Feig has changed his mind. According to Boston Herald, the third installment of the cult classic comedy thriller is ready to film in the capital of Massachusetts.  "'Ghostbusters' - the all-women version starring Kristen Wiig and c- is scheduled to get underway in the coming days," a source revealed. "Word is, director Paul Feig, who did 'The Heat' here with McCarthy and Sandra Bullock a few years back, is in town prepping for the start of shooting."

The letter 'C' could stand for Cecily Strong, who is rumored to appear in "Ghostbusters 3." ScreenRant reported that her character is an authority figure who liaises with our heroines, privately backing their activities and acknowledging their legitimacy, but publicly denouncing the group to the media in order to avoid panic amongst the wider populous.

A few weeks after the rumors emerged, the 31-year-old actress shared her thoughts about the news that she'll be joining her fellow "Saturday Night Live" cast members Kristen Wiig, Leslie McKinnon, and Leslie Jones in the remake. Melissa McCarthy will also be starring in "Ghostbusters 3."

"It's another example of what you read in the paper being 100-percent not anything that's happened to me," Strong explained to Zap2it. "It's like I met with Paul and he said, 'Hey! Did you read those rumors I planted about you?' It's always shocking to me, like, 'What will they say next? What's next in my life, I wonder?'" she added.
